The Freakiest Fish Frenzy | Have you seen me?
California Grunion are some of the most iconic fish found in intertidal zones. Their mating behavior is unique to Grunion and incredible to see in person. Would you hold your breath to get laid like these fish do? Can you believe this freaky fish frenzy happens along the coast of Southern California and Baja California?! I was able to catch several Grunion Runs this past Spring and Summer on the beaches of Los Angeles. (Unceeded Tongva and Chumash land). It was so much to film them and learn about their ecology! A huge thank you to everyone who helped elevate this project. I could not have done it without your support. Thank you to: Research Consultants: Karen Martin, Jessica Flores, and William Ludt . Suggestions for Writing and Editing: Karen Martin, Eva Stoumbos , Jake Garcia, Harnawaz Boparai Jessica Flores, Jann Vendetti , Jackie Childers, Tyler Hayden, Greg Pauly, Allison Shultz , Miguel Ordeñana and The Urban Nature Research Center (UNRC) . Help with Audio and Music: Vincent Camuglia and Mark Gutierrez Filmed, Written, Edited, and Music by: Moses Aubrey Want to help Grunion? California Dept of Fish and Wildlife. If you see poachers you can report them here. It’s important to note that during open season you can collect up to 30 fish if you have a fishing license which is All of March, July-September. Grunion Greeters: This community science program helps researchers learn more about the abundance of Grunion and their range through time.
